Salvage Yard Map lists 8,197 yards. The data was last rebuilt on 2026-10-27.

Methods

  1. Places: Overture Maps places release 2026-10-21.0, U.S. addresses only. Included: the junkyard category, plus auto parts, towing, automotive and dealer businesses whose names indicate salvage, wrecking, dismantling or self-service yards, plus recycling centers and metal businesses whose names indicate scrap metal. Excluded: permanently closed places, junk removal, hauling and dumpster services, and cash-for-cars buyers without a yard.

  2. Quality: places with an Overture confidence score under 0.6 are kept only when the name clearly describes a yard and a phone number is present. Duplicates (the same name within half a kilometer, or the same phone within two kilometers) are merged.

  3. Services: each yard's homepage was requested once in October 2026, respecting robots.txt. Services are recorded only when the yard's own site states them. Website links that no longer load are removed.

  4. Hub pages: a state or city page is published only when at least three yards of that type are listed there.

Independence

Listings are free. No yard can pay to be listed, to rank higher in a list, or to change its data. If we ever add paid features such as featured placement, they will be labeled as sponsored wherever they appear.
